Nursery Fees

Childcare vouchers and Early Years Education (EYE)

This page includes information about our fee schedules, the Childcare Voucher scheme and Early Years Education (EYE) funding. Babraham Nursery accepts both Early Years Education funding and Childcare Vouchers. EYE funding is payable to each child from the first school term following their third birthday.

Fee schedules

Nursery fees are payable one month in arrears, upon invoice. (Invoices are issued by the Babraham Institute). There is a £50 registration fee per child (not payable if you are in receipt of Early Years Education funding), and a deposit of the equivalent of four weeks’ fees is payable (for non Babraham Institute families) on being offered a place. The registration fee covers settling-in visits (up to four hours in total) and administrative costs.

The full rate is charged for weeks containing a Bank holiday and if you remove your child for holidays or they are ill. Fees are not charged for the period from 25 December to 31 December inclusive.

Contact us for details of fees by telephoning 01223 496200 or emailing babraham.nursery@babraham.ac.uk

Childcare Vouchers

Childcare Vouchers can help you save money with your childcare costs through your employer. The first £55 per week (£243 per month*) is completely free of tax and National Insurance contributions. Both parents can benefit, making a potential family saving of up to £2,390 a year*.

The process of receiving and paying with Childcare Vouchers is designed to be simple and straightforward for both employers and employees.

Most employers who provide Childcare Vouchers do so through a salary sacrifice scheme. This means that you agree to reduce your salary by a certain value and receive Childcare Vouchers to the same value, but pay no tax or National Insurance on these.

To join your employer's Childcare Vouchers scheme you must first complete a salary sacrifice agreement. Your employer will give you instructions on how to do this. After your agreement has been submitted to your employer, they will reduce your salary by the requested amount and arrange for vouchers to be provided to you.

Babraham Nursery accepts both paper and virtual vouchers. Paper vouchers are used in the same way as cash or a cheque.

Early Years Education (EYE) Funding Scheme

All three and four year-olds are eligible for free childcare and early learning from the school term after their third birthday.

Children can have up to 570 hours in each 12 month period from the term they become eligible until they reach compulsory school age – the term following their fifth birthday. In Cambridgeshire, the entitlement is expected to increase to 30 hours a week (or 1,140 hours a year) from September 2017 onwards for three and four year-olds with working parents.

Places are offered at Babraham Nursery subject to availability, and in three-hour blocks during term time only. This is equivalent to 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. The block times are 8.45am-11.45am and/or 1.00pm-4.00pm. Snacks are included.

Please note that it’s not possible to use more than six hours of funding a day. Many of our parents choose to attend full day sessions from 8.45am-5.45pm, using their six hours funding and paying for times between these periods.

You can split up to five of your child's Early Years Education sessions between Babraham and another accredited nursery, playgroup, pre-school, independent school, childminder or childminder network that normally charges fees, but you must ensure that you are not claiming for more than the 570 hours-a-year entitlement.

When your child becomes eligible we will provide you with a form entitled ‘Nursery Education Funding: Parent/Carer Declaration Form’. You will need to complete this and return it to our reception together with proof of your child’s identity and date of birth (e.g. a birth certificate, passport or NHS card). You must reply by the date given, as we will need to submit our claim for funding to the local authority.
