The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a set of statutory standards and guidelines covering your child’s learning, development and care from birth to five years of age. It’s akin to an instruction manual covering early years’ best practice. EYFS cannot replace good training and experience, but it does help us to give your child the best start in life, and to help you support your child’s learning and development.
At our last OFSTED inspection (in 2011) we were rated 'outstanding'.
We take very seriously the quality of care we provide, and for that reason employ a high proportion of fully qualified staff. Even among the few who don’t currently hold a formal qualification in childcare, many are actively studying for one.
All forms of in-house and offsite training and further education are encouraged, and staff members undertake everything from first aid and child protection courses, to Level 3 Diplomas, Foundation Degrees, BA Hons and Masters in Childcare and Education.
We recognise that you know your child best, and that the full and active role you play in their development shouldn’t end at the nursery door. We welcome parents into the nursery at any time. We will keep you fully informed of your child’s daily activities and our regular newsletters will keep you abreast of goings-on elsewhere within the nursery.
On a more formal note, we hold consultation evenings between staff and parents twice a year: a consultation meeting in June and an open evening in November. In addition, our management committee has three parent representatives.
